Meet your AI Team Coach

Build the six. Then make every slot earn its place.

Team Coach reads the format, roster, moves, items, abilities, and EVs already in your builder. Get a straight answer on what wins, what folds, and what to change before you queue.

  • Uses your active battle format
  • Reads your actual six and their sets
  • No signup or separate import flow

7/10Strong core. No speed plan.

Your defensive core holds up, but Dragapult and Iron Valiant force a trade every time they enter safely. Keep Garchomp; turn one support slot into reliable speed control.

First fix

From format to feedback

How MetaMons AI works

MetaMons combines a competitive Pokémon team builder with deterministic type analysis and an AI Team Coach. The coach is grounded in the format and roster data already present in the builder.

  1. 01

    Choose the ruleset

Start with a supported Smogon singles, Battle Stadium, VGC, doubles, or older-generation format. The builder uses that choice to scope generation-aware moves, abilities, and mechanics.

  2. 02

    Build the actual sets

Add up to six Pokémon, then set moves, items, abilities, natures, EVs, levels, and Tera types where the format allows them. You can also import a Showdown paste.

  3. 03

Read the team, not one slot

The defensive heatmap checks shared type pressure across the roster. Team Coach receives the active format and your real sets so it can discuss synergy, threats, speed control, hazards, win conditions, and concrete changes.

Gen 9 OU example

A real AI team-analysis example

The coach receives the chosen format plus the same species, moves, items, abilities, EVs, and Tera choices shown in the builder. It can then return the scored review format used by the live “Rate my team” action.

Roster + sets

What it scores

  • Offensive coverage and defensive synergy
  • Speed control and hazard game
  • Win condition and set quality

What it returns

  • An overall score with short reasons
  • Three matchup threats to investigate
  • One urgent, concrete set or roster change

Advice is presented as a recommendation. When the builder cannot verify a factual detail, the coach is instructed to state that uncertainty rather than invent a legality ruling, damage roll, or usage statistic.

MetaMons versus a standard team builder

A standard builder records a team. MetaMons keeps that familiar workflow, then adds roster-wide analysis and a coach that can explain the gaps it finds.

Frequently asked questions about the MetaMons AI team builder

01What makes MetaMons an AI Pokémon team builder?
MetaMons combines a six-slot team editor with a deterministic 18-type defensive heatmap and an AI Team Coach. The coach receives your selected format and current sets, then can rate synergy, speed control, hazards, win conditions, and set quality or answer follow-up questions.
02Can I use the AI team builder for both Smogon and VGC?
Yes. The format picker includes Smogon singles tiers, Battle Stadium, VGC-style doubles, and formats from Gen 1 through Gen 9. The active definition controls the generation used for loaded moves and abilities, whether Terastallization is available, and whether the coach should reason about singles or doubles.
03Does MetaMons work as a Pokémon Showdown AI team builder?
Yes. You can import a Showdown-style team into the builder, edit the roster and sets, copy the completed export, or download it as a text file. The AI Coach reads the same Showdown-style set data used by the builder.
04What Pokémon knowledge does the AI Team Coach use?
The coach is prompted with the active ruleset, roster, moves, items, abilities, EVs, natures, levels, and Tera choices where applicable. It also receives a compact PokéAPI-backed snapshot of species types, base stats, and whether selected moves and abilities were present in the builder's generation-scoped options.
05Does the AI replace the coverage and format data in the builder?
No. The type heatmap and format data are separate product features and remain visible in the builder. AI advice is an additional coaching layer, and uncertain facts are supposed to be identified rather than presented as exact damage, legality, or usage data.
